The nature of food and farming is changing rapidly in a global environment that needs to feed a growing number of people.
By 2050, the global population will reach an estimated 9.7 billion. The need for sustainable intensification and increasing yields in every aspect of food production, is driving research and technological innovation as the industry seeks to deliver change.
If you are an ambitious business working in R&D, agrifood and agritech, education, manufacturing, and food production, or you represent a business expanding and supporting the local economy and supply chains in Somerset and the South West, we share your passion for growth and success.
We want to bring together businesses to create a world-class hub for agriculture and rural businesses at a site which offers a prestigious trade show environment, and which is a knowledge dissemination hub for skills, links to industry and academic research, and to the wider farming community and members of the public.
Education, knowledge transfer and business growth is at the heart of the centre, and the facility will provide the perfect venue for farmers undertaking knowledge transfer projects, higher education graduates undertaking research projects, further education students gaining farming knowledge and skills, rural workforce gaining vocational skills to increase their employability and micro food and drink businesses looking to expand and grow.
The Royal Bath & West of England Society were delighted to welcome their Vice Patron of the Society, The Countess of Wessex, to the showground to visit the newly refurbished Royal Enterprise Centre.
The Society’s former office building underwent a £500k refurbishment, to create an Agri-tech & Food Innovation & Training Centre. The Society envisages a wide range of groups using the facilities; from farmers undertaking knowledge transfer projects to micro food & drink businesses looking to expand and grow.
In line with the Society’s ambitions to support the sector, it created a brand-new opportunity for regional businesses within the food & drink sector to network and grow.
The Bath & West’s Food & Drink Business Network which was launched in February 2018, provides business and networking support through a range of activities.
