The Bath and West Enterprise Area

100 acres of opportunity

Mendip District Council has designated the Royal Bath & West Showground as an Enterprise Area to allow for sustainable growth and commercial investment into the site.  The designation aims to complement the Royal Bath & West of England Society’s charitable objectives and to secure the future of the site and its popular year-round events programme.
The Enterprise Area aims to attract new business investment and economic growth with the support of financial and planning incentives for qualifying occupiers.

This £100 million regeneration scheme aims to attract companies particularly keen to align themselves with Society’s domestic and international links with innovation, agriculture, technology, manufacturing, education and food & drink production.  The Society also benefits from strong links to Defra, the Countryside Land & Business Association, and numerous other member organisations, research institutes, and universities with an interest in the future of food and farming.

The Bath & West Showground has a national and international reputation and already attracts 2 million visitors each year.  An exemplary for showcasing heritage agricultural skills, the Society also seeks to promote innovations in farming techniques and works closely with Innovation for Agriculture

With world-class educational facilities, including the Universities of Bristol, Bath and the University of the West of England, plus Bristol Robotics Laboratory and the National Composites Centre all within an hour’s drive, the Enterprise Area also benefits from public transport links at nearby Castle Cary rail station, easy access to London via the A371/A303, and international travel via Bristol Airport.
